Victory Part 1

She had won, she had got him.  He was hers again and yet she was stuck here with nothing to do and he wasn't giving her any attention.  Gilbert sat with his friends in the room next door editing photos and drinking beer. Bushra sat on the bed staring at her phone trying to find some way to kill the boredom. She had travelled - correction took an actual  flight - all the way from Paris to see him and he was practically ignoring her. Bushra didn't want to complain because she really wanted them to make it work this time and she knew how he disliked women who complained.  He reminded her often enough. Gilbert had been telling her ever since they got back together that the others were too demanding, too negative. Mira apparently had dark negative energy and had always been argumentative. A woman who craved drama he had told her. 'Bushra, this girl, she would always want to go out, she never wanted to stay at home. I'm a traveler, it's what I do for a living as y...

The Last Conversation

“Arhaan?" "Yes, it’s me" "How are you? Is everything okay?", Mahi was stunned and confused, her heart racing, as it did every time she heard him speak or received any communication from him.   It had been 5 months since she last saw or spoke to Arhaan. Now why had he felt the need to get in touch with her? She thought she had made him understand that she could not possibly exert any more effort on him. "I’m fine." She replied.  She did not say anything else to continue the conversation.  After a moment’s silence he began to ask her what she was doing now, how her family were and how the job was going. She listened to him, bewildered by his style of conversation. He was talking in such a casual and familiar manner as though they had only been speaking to each other the night before and all this time had never passed.  As though he were next to her at this very moment and not miles away living in the Middle East. "I wish I could see you...

Hello You

She didn’t realise when it was that he came to stand there but suddenly she noticed he was a few metres away standing at the next bus stop staring into the distance with his white ear phones on, pensive expression and hair styled back into a rough pile on his head.  She wasn’t sure if she should approach him and her sister and niece were standing next to her as they had just returned from a shopping trip.  She had longed to see him for so long, she didn’t think she could let this chance go.  She walked a little to the left and went behind her sister so that she could hide herself but get a good look at him.  He hadn’t noticed her and was facing the direction from which the buses came.  After a few moments of deliberation she decided she must go and speak to him whether the response was positive or not.  If she didn’t, who knew when she would see him again? She stopped thinking about her sister and niece and what they would think as her mind began r...

Desire

She. She was drawn to him like a vampire drawn to it's victim. Clinging on to him for her very life's breathe.  She the empty one, broken and torn; he her lifeblood.  Her empty heart was dull, cold and numb, lacking in emotion, a heavy weight pressing against her lungs.  Holding onto him made her heart beat again, it provided her the ability to feel once more.  Life flowed from him into her and she regained consciousness. His dynamism, his enthusiasm, humour and energy were intoxicating and he used his charm to full effect to pull her closer to him, so that she would become an obsessive lover, lost in him only and with no thought of any other being in the world. He. He was inexplicably attracted to his new lover.  Her existence relied on him, her life in his hands, extinguishable in a single second. He loved to be needed, to be wanted and to be her life giving deity; her dark angel filling her hollow heart in fleeting moments. Yet he prowled the dark s...
